A Plus Market strives to bring you a diverse range of plus size fashion with the focus on pre-loved bargains and new unique designer wares.
A brand new local designer Rethreading will be holding their first A Plus Market stall with is this Sunday!
Elizabeth the brains and craftiness behind Rethreading describes her venture.
“Mostly I make upcycled plus size women’s clothing and art to wear. Sometimes I make other things. Making is an essential part of my daily life, and without it I go a little stir crazy.
My mantra is: “Begin where you are, use what you have”
I have a passion (sometimes unkindly referred to as an obsession) for textiles. So many lovely fabrics and so little time to play with them all.
I started to make my own clothing because I couldn’t find garments I wanted to wear in the shops – colour! pattern! design! fabric! beautiful things! – and now I want to share my sewing with others.
I love a good rummage through an op shop (or thrift shop, if you prefer), looking for treasures to re-use in my garments, but occasionally I am seduced by new fabric. Usually I work with upcycled textiles though sometimes a length of new fabric will inveigle its way into a piece.”
