Unique and ethically produced plus size fashion are two things that A Plus Market loves.

If you do too, then you’ll also love Simply Christene.

Simply Christene a designer dressmaker heralding from Ballarat offers a range of locally designed and handcrafted clothing off the rack. All the pieces can also be  custom made to suit perfectly.

Simply Christene’s range is individual, quirky sometimes nostalgic and all tailored to fit curves.
Garments are often a one off or one of three and each one of those three is unique in the fabric. With a preference for natural fibres; cottons, linens, wools and a variety of blends, fabric is sourced from a variety locations and purchased in small amounts. One can rest assured when investing in a Simply Christene piece, you are not only getting that something different but that it is of the highest quality.
Come along to A Plus Market Sunday May 10 and see Simply Christene’s eclectic blend of dresses, tunics, tops and wraps for yourself.

Icelandic Blue

A Plus Market (Preston)

caitlin testimonial

A Plus Market showcases a diverse range of local plus size labels.

Icelandic Blue is a relatively new label designed for comfort and style.

In 2014, the artist, Janice Gobey launched Icelandic Blue to cater to the independent woman who enjoys making her own fashion statement.

Janice felt that what was missing from most plus-size ranges was well designed garments in luxurious fabrics that actually fitted the body.

Janice say “What we wear is like another skin and makes a statement about how we feel about ourselves – it is important to be able to express yourself and polyester sacks don’t necessarily do this.”

“We want to change this and encourage women of all sizes and shapes to buy quality, well made items that will make you feel fabulous and give you years of wear.”

“Our range is trans-seasonal, able to be layered and perfect for travel or a variety of occasions – from the office to lunch with friends or an evening at the theatre.”

Icelandic Blue is a boutique collection, manufactured in Melbourne to the highest standards. There are only limited quantities of each style.

Icelandic Blue will once again be showcasing their gorgeous collection for us at A Plus Market.

Madame Tây

A Plus Market (Preston)

A Plus MarketPreston May 31 is also going to be home for a day to this awesome label Madame Tây.

Madame Tây is a ‘local’ label with a difference, this clothing project was conceived by four friends from Melbourne who now live in four different cities – Toronto, Hanoi, Dakar and Melbourne.
Working with small-business tailors in Vietnam and Senegal they create simple, handmade, ethically-produced garments.
For the four friends, this project is not just about the finished product, it is also about the process.

As a collective they say,
“While we have a passion for beautiful clothes, we also have ideas and questions around ethics, culture, travel, fashion, global manufacturing, trade and consumption, that we hope to explore in this endeavour.”

If you purchase a Madame Tây item, you can easily trace your garment’s origins back to the individual tailor who made it, and learn about the place where your item came from.
At A Plus Market – Preston on the 31st of May, Madame Tây will be showcasing a limited edition series of plus size garments in beautiful wax print sourced in Ghana and Senegal, including simple camisoles, cute peplum tops and a small range of dresses.

You can see more examples of the Madame Tây range here and here,
but better yet come along on Saturday May 31 and see them for your self.
